Volunteering and work experience
Kent County Council offers enjoyable and worthwhile volunteering opportunities across its services including archives, as well as libraries and in some registration offices. Find out about the benefits of volunteering with us and what we expect from you as a volunteer at Kent County Council’s volunteer webpage.
There are many activities for everyone, whatever your age, experience or the amount of time you are able to give. We currently have two different types of volunteer roles available.
- IT Buddy in all libraries: helping customers gain confidence in basic IT skills to safely access and use digital services. IT Buddies use Learn My Way to guide customers. IT Buddies may offer specialisms like family history.
- Kent History Champions: Book covering and labelling, history data inputting, listing uncatalogued materials and archival collections and helping check and update local studies information and developing new resources to add to Kent’s history collections. Topics are very varied from town photos to WW1 and more.
If you would you like to volunteer please complete the volunteer application form.
The volunteer programme enhances the service but does not provide work experience. People requiring specific experiences for academic, career or personal development should refer to Kent County Council’s work experience programme.
